On the afternoon of November 9, the West China School of Clinical Medicine at Sichuan University held the fifth session of its “Meet a City” cultural exchange program, uniting Chinese and international students in an effort to deepen cross-cultural connections and mutual understanding. Supported by Sichuan University’s Overseas Students Office, the event welcomed 40 students from Nepal, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, and other countries to the Sanxingdui Museum for an immersive journey into the heart of ancient Shu civilization.
Guided by a museum docent, the students explored celebrated relics such as the Bronze Standing Figure and the Sacred Bronze Tree, gaining a rich perspective on Shu culture’s remarkable heritage. Through the docent's vivid storytelling, students delved into the ancient history and lasting legacy of Sanxingdui, sparking a newfound appreciation for the complexity and resilience of Chinese civilization. Grishma, a student from Nepal, was particularly struck by the intricate gold and bronze masks, expressing a keen interest in uncovering the stories behind these artifacts.
This cultural exchange not only strengthened Chinese students' sense of cultural pride but also offered international students an intimate encounter with traditional Chinese culture, advancing cross-cultural exchange and fostering a deeper understanding of China’s historical legacy.
